Had nice clear skies for a change. Had to take advantage of the conditions. The KCS 5021 east got a track warrant at Denton TX this moring at 8 am on the ALLIANCE sub to Wylie TX. Caught up with the train at Lewisville TX near Hwy 121 and caught him again at Plano and Murphy TX. Had 4 new KCSM ES44AC engines. KCS will send them down to Mexico on a I-DASL intermodal train very soon.

They will add these engines to a I-DASL train to St. Luis Mexico. I spoke to an engineer who had some new KCSM engines on his DASL train a few weeks ago out of Wylie. He said they told him 100 times not to start these engines. Date: 06/09/19 20:25 Re: More Power for the KCS Mexico Author: SantaFeRuss How much cheaper per unit are these ES44AC units vs ET44AC units KCS is receiving?

Larry Date: 06/09/19 23:46 Re: More Power for the KCS Mexico Author: needles_sub Wow, new engines that can only run south of the border.
In past, all the railroads sent their junk south of the border. Posted from Android Date: 06/10/19 13:38 Re: More Power for the KCS Mexico Author: ns1000 Very nice..!!
Date: 06/10/19 13:44 Re: More Power for the KCS Mexico Author: TCnR Nice series, great colors. Had to look at the Video to see the details of the Export units, they look like Tier 4 radiators.
Why would they be Tier 4 units, or am I mis-identifying them? Date: 06/10/19 14:35 Re: More Power for the KCS Mexico Author: exhaustED TCnR Wrote:

Only the lead unit is tier 4, the export ones further back are tier 3 GEVOs. Date: 06/10/19 14:47 Re: More Power for the KCS Mexico Author: Txtrainman60 So WHY dont they ban the use of ALL KCSM units in the U.S? I see there junk up here all the time. Those new ones look nice now but they sure wont stay that way long in Mexico!

The SP used to do the same thing years ago when units were purchased. The new units had to be operated out of California more than 50 % of the time to avoid the taxes.

They cannot be used or put into service in the US as they are not Tier 4 compliant. Date: 06/11/19 16:21 Re: More Power for the KCS Mexico Author: ProAmtrak Nice pics and cool video!
