Western Railroad Discussion > “Weak-end” assortmentDate: 07/02/19 22:37 “Weak-end” assortment Author: oyw As the title may imply, last Saturday and Sunday (June 29 and 30) weren’t overly exciting here in Southern California but, I tried to enjoy the sunny skies and work with what I had. Here are a few assorted shots.
1) BNSF ran an interesting loaded ballast train up Cajon Saturday morning, two units up front and two shoving. 2) One of the hoppers, BNSF 913009. 3) Going away view, BNSF 5256 and 6388 shove the train around Sullivan’s Curve. Date: 07/02/19 22:39 Re: “Weak-end” assortment Author: oyw 4) The new kid in BNSF’s trailer business, Amazon shipments seem to be steadily increasing.
5) 1X1 loaded vehicle train behind BNSF 4508 seemed like an odd sight. 6) Citirail 1339 adds a little color to the last train of the morning at Cajon Campground. Date: 07/02/19 22:41 Re: “Weak-end” assortment Author: oyw 7) It had been a few months since I checked up on UP’s Crestmore Local, so I started out Sunday morning with a look. Just before 8AM, the train pulled into Universal Lumber in Riverside led by SD70M 5099.
8) The second unit was SD40-2 “snoot” 1838. Front uncoupled while working Universal made the short trip worthwhile. 9) Over at West Riverside on the BNSF, another shot without power shows a healthy cut of Maersk containers. Date: 07/02/19 22:43 Re: “Weak-end” assortment Author: oyw 10) An eastbound BNSF behind 6196 slows for trackwork ahead.
11) The obligatory Metrolink image, SCAX train #859 heading for Oceanside. F125 914 pushes 5 of 6 cars in the new scheme. 12) Finishing the day close to home, BNSF’s 1st Kaiser switcher works the Columbero Spur in Rancho Cucamonga behind GP60M-3 126. As I said, nothing too special here but I made do. Thanks for taking the time to look. Yes, the solar panels provide battery power to the on-board GPS hardware, and motor/hydraulic mechanisms. This onboard system allows for more safe/practical remote operation, precise application, and even distribution of new ballast along the right of way as the train travels the main line. ~ Mr. MRL Date: 07/03/19 10:15 Re: “Weak-end” assortment Author: atsf121 MrMRL Wrote:
