Western Railroad Discussion > Motorcar Trip Creede Branch 4 July 2019Date: 07/05/19 16:07 Motorcar Trip Creede Branch 4 July 2019 Author: cozephyr North American Rail Car Operators Association (NARCOA), Rocky Mountain Division, operated trips last week (July 2019) on the San Luis & Rio Grande RR over La Veta Pass, Colorado, and the former Denver & Rio Grande Western RR Creede Branch between South Fork, CO, and Wagon Wheel Gap (highway paved over at that location).
1-Don Shank's Denver & Rio Grande RR has Southern Pacific 7863, B30-7, parked at South Fork, CO, 4 July 2019. 2-Bridge 306-A over the Rio Grande River. 3-North American Rail Car Operators Association (NARCOA) group rode 12 motorcars on the former Denver & Rio Grande Western RR Creede Branch. 2-Wagon Wheel Gap Depot was built to serve General Palmer's Ranch. Place was abandoned for years till the Davlin Family purchased depot for $25,000 and began multi-year renovation. We had a tour of the depot-impressive. No interior images per Mrs. Davlin. 3-Bush was high along the Rio Grande River in a couple of locations. Time to send out the motorcar pulled brush mower-!
