Still a Two Railroad Town
Author: twjurgens

Hadn't seen UP's Valley, NE to Lincoln local in town since the flooding in March. I was beginning to think that BNSF might be the only Class I left in Lincoln!  I'd heard that UP trains had been spotted but not caught one until this morning. It doesn't look like they are switching in the industrial park near Lincoln's airport.

1711 and 1879 brought 48 or 49 cars in this morning (didn't get an exact count).

This train is entering BNSF trackage in the first and second views.  In the second view, the former UP row is visible on the upper left.

Nice shots Tom. Flooding in these central states has changed what we consider to be normal tendency operating practices. Thanks for getting out and recording the action

Detail is great!  Wish mine looked that good but it's more like particle board and cork roadbed.

Do they interchange in BNSF's Hobson Yard?

Yes, and most of the time BNSF has an out bound train made up for them.
