UP 4014 Tracker... Real-Time?

I'm curious about the Union Pacific Steam Location Tracker (https://www.up.com/forms/steam-trace.cfm).. is it updated in real-time as the engine is on-the-move, or manually by someone "checking in" from time to time?
I'm planning to try to catch 4014 next Friday as it comes down from Butler, and I'm wondering if the Tracker will be reliable for that.  Does anyone happen to know?

It only seems to update when it gets close to a the next town or lank mark. At least that is what I have experienced in Iowa.

As I was chasing on July 17 and 19, I got the impression that the tracker was being manually updated, and that it could be anywhere from just a few minutes to nearly a half hour behind that actual location. Even so, it helped me several times to adjust my chasing strategy.
