Western Railroad Discussion > A Moment of Mojave Monsoonal MoistureDate: 07/25/19 19:08 A Moment of Mojave Monsoonal Moisture Author: MrMRL Ruby rays of sunlight witnessed through falling monsoonal moisture from the National Trails Highway (Historic Route 66) grade crossing at East Pisgah (MP 705.2 BNSF Needles Sub). While there, BNSF 7210 was also captured leading a westbound San Bernardino bound Z-train into the day's setting sun.
This scene captured toward the end of Tuesday, July 23, 2019 after a long day of chasing summer thunderstorms across the Mojave Desert east of Barstow, CA. Out Date: 07/25/19 19:53 Re: A Moment of Mojave Monsoonal Moisture Author: MrMRL I know its tounge-in-check, but here is a doppler radar cap from 18:30 Tuesday afternoon, about an hour before the photos seen above were taken, while my Mom and I were still enjoying the lightning in Yermo, CA (light blue dot). Sunset pics were taken South of I-40 (near the right edge of the radar image).

away last night as did much of KIngman. It's rained in Fort Mohave and not a drop in Bullhead. Not only does the UP hate me so do the weather gods! Was run by Floyd Wiley -- he's probably gone by now -- .He had lots of good caboose parts at very good prices. Floyd and his wife were good people. The way I see it is you have three IOTD candidates there. Nice work and thanks for sharing. Kent in CArmel Valley Date: 07/25/19 22:03 Re: A Moment of Mojave Monsoonal Moisture Author: MrMRL Thanks for all the feedback folks! The painted sky lingered well after sunset as we were headed back West on I-40 (near Newberry Springs) towards dinner in B-town. I anticipate there will be more storm and train chasing opportunities as the desert (wet season) continues over the next 6-8 weeks.

I'm in agreement with Kent. Number #3 is actually my fave, but all three are outstanding! Lance/199 Date: 07/26/19 05:54 Re: A Moment of Mojave Monsoonal Moisture Author: atsf121 Congrats on the IOTD, those are amazing images.

Even stepping into the car a day or two later back in the LA Basin I faintly detect the aroma. ~ Mr. MRL Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/26/19 12:02 by MrMRL.
