Update on locomotive M & R at OERM (SCRM) 8/10/19
Author: TomPlatten

1) Still to do on the SP 1006: a) paint the trucks and fuel tank, b) replace the Lexan windows with appropriate glass, c) troubleshoot the balky load regulator.
2) Still to do on the UP 942 a) complete rack adjustments on the newly installed Eco-Tip injectors, b) reinstall the A1 Suppression valve when it returns from from rebuilding.
3) Locate and eliminate the 64 volt DC short in the control panel in SF 108.
4) Finish servicing the Cuno lube oil strainers on SP 1474 and Army Alco 1956.
Thank you for your kind comments about the SP 1006 as we bring it's 17 year restoration to a close! Several visitors were on hand last Saturday to witness the "roll out" and brief operation.
It marks the fourth locomotive restoration completed in the forty years I have been a member starting with SP 3100.

What are we looking at in photo 1? With that handle, my guess is something to do with a fuel filter/strainer.

To me it looks like a Carbon-Pile rheostat.
I am curious also.

Photo #1 is either an Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator or a Cuno Lube Oil Strainer as found in the front of Alco 539 prime movers.

I believe I'll go with the Cuno. Thanks, Tom.

Where is the “Kaboom?” There’s supposed to be an Earth-shattering “Kaboom?!”

Always enjoy your status updates, Tom. Thanks for all of them and for the great work you and the rest of the group does.

It certainly isn't an Oscillation Overthruster.
