BNSF derailment, Perrin,AZ
Author: bradleymckay

Multiple message boards are reporting a stack train has derailed near Perrin, west of Williams Jct. Sounds like #3 will hold at Flagstaff.

Update: #3 still at Winslow

Im hearing it was an EB that had the derailment

And a WB had hit some of the derailed cars.

Praying that the crews are okay and safe.  Looks like the last EB/WB trains went through Williams at 5:53 and 5:56 this evening.  The RadioFeed might have picked it up.  I will check the archives.

As of 23:08 #3 passed the station Westbound. Did they clear the issue at Perrin?

Christina, thanks for the audio post. That was interesting.

Nothing moving at Perrin, but they are moving a few trains closer.

Sounds like the EB hit the ground in the OS at W. Perrin and drug its wheels for a while. WBs coming through there are usually cooking after they drop over Wiljct. It could of been so much worse.

What does the "OS" in this message mean or stand for?  I have not heard that term before.

Also heard spoken from the diapatcher, it means Opposing Signals aka "The Plant", the space between the backsides of two Controlled Signals. The "OS" at West Perrin contains one crossover

o.s. is a term for the control point (area inbetween the outer opposing controlled signals where the dual controlled/power switch would be).

if a train derailed and was travelled through the o.s. damaging the dual controlled switch, the controlled signals protecting the o.s./control point would drop to red/stop..........
