The End of an Era.
Author: qman

All good things must come to an end.  No greater proof of that statement can be found than the end of BM&LP operations.  Soon to be relegated to the history books, the trains still operate with elegance and efficiently to the very end.

Imagine a set of 4 units painted orange with a black roof extending the length of the units at the bottom of the windows. In the middle of the orange paint a 3' tall maroon band the length of the unit with gaps for the end doors. Outline that with 1" black pinstripes.

Can we visualize a matched set of 4 Milwaukee Road boxcabs?

The "Navajo de Mining" units are strange enough, those poor boxcabs would have had their tongues
hanging out running back and forth at 40 mph. BTW, couple of really nice shots there, hopefully "White"
makes it to the last day.

I was suggesting the NdeM units be painted orange and maroon in historic respect of earlier boxcab units.

The MILW boxcabs were rated on mountain grades as an F7 or GP9. That means one E60C was the equivalent of a 4 unit set of boxcabs. Either BM&LP would be running 25 car trains or 16 unit consists.

Indeed... It shows some of the drop dead beauty that this line runs through.  A shame that the stretch that doesn't parallel 160 doesnt become a tourist line.
