Western Railroad Discussion > Last Wednesday in Truckee

I had to be up on the mountain near Donner Summit last Wednesday for some personal business, and when I wrapped things up I headed to see if anything was running over the hill. Unfortunately, I just missed this manifest rolling through the curves east of Norden and into Tunnel 41, so I headed down to Truckee for a late lunch and caught it there.

Photos 1 and 2: UP 6638 leads three other GEs through the crossover at West Truckee and around the curve heading into the tangent track through town.
Photo 3: UP 6490 brings up the rear, and while faded it's looking relatively clean given it's position in the lineup. Perhaps it was recently shopped or hasn't been lurking on the Roseville sub for long.
