It took me a long time to get used to the idea that I could change ISO settings for every single shot, and shoot for an infinite number of effects. You can shoot scenes that you never would have dreamed of with Kodachrome. And what you don't completely or satisfactorily catch with your camera you can rescue when you get to use some home photo editing. And as far as the technology is concerned, we're probably just at the tip of the iceberg... 😀

The photos you posted are the example of a successful outcome. ALLEN Date: 08/30/19 12:56 Re: Sometimes ya gotta push the camera beyond its limits. Author: DonWinslow Thanks to all for the nice words. In re the camera settings, shutter at 200, f stop at 8 and I put the ISO on auto and let it float. I set the exposure down between one and two stops to counteract the bright head and ditch lights. Once I have good daytime light, I go to shutter at 400, f-stop at 12 or 16 and exposure at zero. The center photo at Ludlow was with my Nikon which handled the night exposures better but since I had two strokes, I can't hold the heavy camera now so I got a Sony RX 10-4 which is doing pretty good but suffers a bit in the glass. I just hafta work around it. All in all, I'm happy with the Sony and get pretty good results.

Thanks for reminding us about all those things. t4p. DonWinslow Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ... If ya can get the other stuff close, then auto-iso will make it a lot easier. Don Winslow Glendora, CA http://www.donwinslow.net/Railroads |
