1.  Westbound Amtrak 7 (Empire Builder)  is about an hour late leaving Leavenworth, WA as the conductor checks his watch, a time-honored tradition.
2.  Westbound intermodal climbs the east slope of the Cascades about six miles west of Leavenworth, WA.

we visited this most interesting town last month....amazing that the main street through town, highway 2, was some years ago some 7 GN tracks until GN moved a ways out of town....good place to visit.    Arlen
