Western Railroad Discussion > Early Fall color on Cajon

Almost like clockwork throughout California's high-desert regions, early fall marks the beginning of the "rabbitbrush" blooming season. Being no exception, right now Cajon Pass is filled with the colorful green shrubs along much of the right-of-way. In a few weeks they should turn to bright yellow and then by December, return back to their usual brownish/ grey color. Looking to take advantage of the green rabbitbrush on this clear morning, here is a shot of BNSF 6668, first in a quartet of GE's leading an eastbound stack train up Main track #1. As the train nears Summit, Hill 582 can be seen just to the left of the signal bridge. October is one of my favorite months for photography in Cajon, thanks for looking.

Looks like the Big Steam is due, (and soon) up on this storied Pass.
Looking forward to the many TO members, who may be posting images of the 4014, and its train.
(Due later this week, and up to Sunday, 10/13.)
