SLRG 100 E-unit to Antonito, CO, 4 Oct 2019

San Luis & Rio Grande 100, E8A, moved 22-cars from Alamosa to Antonito, Colorado, 4 October 2019.  Southbound train was north of La Jara, CO.

Are those loaded hoppers or are they moved to Antonito for storage?

Most likely they're empties for perlite loading in Antonito.

Got shots of the same train, same day but south of La Jara. All cars were empty. Ben

Hoppers are for the Pearlite business.(hope I spelled that right).

Let hope these are not the last 22 empties placed in Perlite for loading. Has anyone seen these cars moving east  as loads?  They will take some good motive power to get them over La Veta Pass and to the UP interchange.

is that E-unit still powered by dual 567's?  Or has it been repowered? When are trains running on the SLRG - I assume no set schedule?
