Western Railroad Discussion > SP 1006 goes to Work!Date: 10/19/19 21:02 SP 1006 goes to Work! Author: TomPlatten Today at OERM, the SP 1006 was assigned to pull our annual Pumpkin Train. This was its first actual revenue service and marks the end of a 16 year journey to turn what was essentially a piece of junk back into a functional locomotive. Dave, our project leader on the 1006 and Diesel Foreman reports that all went well. Naturally we celebrated by starting on other projects!

White handrails weren't a thing back in 1939. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/20/19 18:56 by PHall. Date: 10/21/19 06:33 Re: SP 1006 goes to Work! Author: TomPlatten That is correct! I'm sure that was the case as our SW-1 delivered in 1952 had all black handrails which were painted white once put in service on the Portland Traction Co.
