So, today I had just sat down for lunch at our local Chinese restaurant when my cell phone alerted me of a new text. Uh Oh. A UP coal train had just passed Loma, Colorado headed west with Tier IV 3071 leading. While I finished my lunch I figured I might just be able to catch it out in the eastern Utah desert if I hurried. So, finish lunch, grab the camera bag and take off. An hour and a half later I’m in Helper. Gas up the Jeep, check the yard and take off again. I wanted to get to Grassy siding 30 miles or so east of Helper. There is a wonderful photo spot there with a spectacular backdrop of Utah’s Book Cliffs. I had about a 30-40 minute wait and then here comes the 3071.  Great location, great light and a clean Tier IV.  That is about a 100 mile drive for this one shot, but I’ll do that anytime for a result like this.

NICE !   Some guys will go an extra hundred miles to get a good pic.  Pick a pair of T4s by different mothers.

PS in Central, TX you can drive 100 miles and still not get decent scenery.  Wish I could!
