Western Railroad Discussion > Couple More at Caldwell, TXDate: 11/19/19 18:41 Couple More at Caldwell, TX Author: texchief1 1. UP C45ACCTE 7770, UP C44/60AC 6940, UP SD70ACe 8420 and UP C45ACCTE 7869 lead a mixed SB manifest at Caldwell, TX on the UP Giddings Sup. It is approaching CP FL032. This is almost all SB traffic on this Sub for UP. Just south of this picture is the transfer which allows BNSF to get on this Sub. BNSF runs NBs and SBs. Trains running to San Antonio can get there two different ways. At West Point, TX, they can stay straight and get on the Cuero Sub and go to Flatonia, TX and then turn west on the Glidden Sub or they can turn west at West Point at Smithville Jct. and go through Smithville and Lockhart to San Antonio. This shot was taken from the Banks St. overpass at 10:47 a.m. September 29, 2019.
2. UP SD70ACe 8439 and UP C44AC6757 lead a manifest/vehicle/stack train at Caldwell, TX same location as no. 1 above. It is 11:48 a.m. September 29, 2019. Just above the last box car you can see the BNSF Galveston Sub bridge. Used to you could get over and under shots, but the trees have grown uup quite a bit and you can't get a good shot anymore.
