OT-Snowstorm affects Denver International Airport

Off-topic-Snowstorm hitting Denver Front Range-!  7-inches at Denver International Airport 450 flights canceled 26 November 2019. Heavier snow at Boulder.  Interstates (I-76) closed north east of Denver from Lochbuie to Colorado/Nebraska state line and east of Denver on I-70 toward Limon, Colorado to Burlington, CO.

Amtrak train 5, the California Zephyr, running only an hour late at Fort Morgan, CO, as of 6:31 AM, Tuesday morning.

 I-70 closed near Vail, Colorado.

10 inches at Denver as of 6 AM.  16.5 inches at Boulder, Colorado.

Yes its winter time thats when it snows as usual and airlines are affected by it.

More and more these days, we preemptively cancel in the face of these storms. No need to have passengers, planes, and crews stranded if you know it's coming.

Conversely, sometimes the forecast fizzles and we look like idiots. But I think it was the right call on this one.

And for all but maybe 1 or 2% of passengers affected by these Denver cancellations, they will still end up getting to their destinations faster than if they were somehow able to rebook onto an Amtrak that magically had extra equipment and crews on standby.
