Holiday Season Starts on Cajon
Author: suvart

Lots of Z trains and a smattering of snow must mean the holiday season is upon Cajon. I took a trip up the pass yesterday to see what I could find.

1&2) An EB Z train passes through Mormon Rocks.

3) Another intermodal, this time WB, descends towards Mormon Rocks.

4) Another EB intermodal winds it's way uphill as it approaches I-15.

5) A BNSF ACe leads an interesting consist WB toward the LA basin with international stacks in tow.

6) The WB passes through a small range of hills. The snow on the side of the hills exposed to the sun has already melted away.

7) The shadowy side of the hills are still covered in snow

8&9) BNSF's daily Barstow to San Diego manifest races (and loses to) a massive 3x1x2 UP intermodal.

10&11) The BARSDG, led by a three pack of venerable 7700 series "CA Hauler" GEVOs, descends down the more direct track 3 while the endless UP train continues down track 2.

12) Short video of the SD70ACe led intermodal.
