What are these cars?
Author: Duna

And what are they carrying? Some look like coil stell cars with rounded covers, but the boxy ones with raised ends?

Photos snapped while driving EB on I-10 along the ex-SP main, Fontana, CA 1/3/20.

Thanks.

They're insulated coil cars.

While were at it, how about these behind the Texas Eagle?

The cars behind the passenger train in the latter picture are flats loaded with truck frames. While automobiles and at least some crossovers use unibody construction, heavier-duty vehicles still ride on steel frames like these.

Could be Tahoe or Suburban frames if this was in Texas. I believe there is a GM plant in I think Arlington TX that builds Tahoes and Suburbans.

Dana Corp makes truck frames in Mexico.  My old Toyota had one, so could be them.
