Ex ATSF B40-8
Author: Hookdragkick

Today, I seen a H BARLUB rolling passed Tri-States power plant in Prewitt, NM, and along with two 3GS21Bs in-tow, there were two Santa Fe motors in blue and yellow: a Geep and a GE B40-8, #572. I've never seen a blue and yellow -8 before, so that was real neat. My question is: does anyone know where it's headed or what will become of it?

Edit: overlooked this thread - https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4938085.  Maybe?

"Yellow bonnet" B40-8's showed up in the Watson Ca, local pool , late in the GP30/35/39 local power days.  IDK how common it was, but i saw them there..
It was before the GP60 local power days started.

Do you work on the Gallup Sub?  It is nice having railroaders on Trainorders.

I can't fully answer your questions.  However, the thread you cited refers to the wide-nose C40's not the standard cab B40's.  The last I knew, there were only two
B40's left unpainted, as opposed to the GP60's which are ALL unpainted.  Further, BNSF has been removing the B40's from service.  The last I'd heard
only two were left running, the rest either stored or disposed of.  I would guess this engine is on its was to be disposed of one way or another.  As
additional information,#572 is an ex-BNSF 8600 class, nee-ATSF 7410 class.  Anyone with better information can correct me here.
