Date: 01/17/20 20:52 Re: UP 1375? Author: mwbridgwater Thanks. While I've got you, are the SD38-2s UPY 830 through UPY 833 still at West Colton? I know 34 and 35 were "slugged".

UPY 831 (ex-SP 2972) is the last SD38-2 on the entire UP system. It departed West Colton yesterday 1/17/20 for the last time as a SD38-2 and is currently at Ogden, UT making it's way east to become a slug. UPY 830 and 833 are at Metro East Industries now becoming slugs. UPY 832, 834 and 835 are already slugs. Date: 01/20/20 07:39 Re: UP 1375? Author: PHall They've gotten a pretty good run out of those ex-SP SD38-2's. They've been pushing cars over the hump for 38 years straight!

They date from April 1973 so that would make them even older at 46+ years old. I'd say they got their monies worth out of them! Date: 01/20/20 10:50 Re: UP 1375? Author: mwbridgwater Although depressing, thanks for the update. The end of an era. I've been watching those units all these years, and hoped we might be able to arrange for donation of one to the museum in Perris, Calif.

They would absolutely destroy the trackage at Perris. |
