Superfleet Power at Night
Author: BNSF-6432

Last night while heading towards downtown I had the idea of shooting an eastbound at a certain spot. With the signals off and no sign of an eastbound I continued west figuring I would try it another time. Once I got to East Tulsa I noticed 467 sitting in a shootable spot parked for some unknown reason. A consist that's normally been running together is the B40-8W/GP60B/GP60M. Sense I hadn't shot much lately including either locals, I grabbed the tripod and tried some exposures. With this shot ending up as the best result.

BNSF 467 sits at East Tulsa waiting on a signal to leave Tulsa, OK for Tiger and the Port of Catoosa with a trio of former ATSF units. In the background is the Williams building in downtown Tulsa. 1/18/20

As I recall, "Superfleet" was a Santa Fe reference to the red and silver freight locomotives.  Did, or does, BNSF refer to any locomotives as being "Superfleet"?

Great shot, but no Super Fleet.

Superb night shot Patrick. These units really look nice in the night light you got—certainly better than the grungy dull orange of daylight. I too would have thought a couple of these were once red and silver or the fleet. Nice work.

Yep, all three of these locomotives were once red and silver

But they're not red and silver anymore so they're not really "Superfleet" anymore. Former Superfleet maybe but not Superfleet.
You expect to see red and silver on a Superfleet.

Back during my Santa Fe days, the company gave me a Superfleet coffee mug. Over the years, all of the Superfleet decoration has worn off. Now I just have a gray coffee mug. I think I will start calling it a "former Superfleet" coffee mug.

Thanks for the picture of them trying to get the band together again, but I miss the days of them doing what they were built to do.

A matched A-B-A set in 2020, who'd a thunk...

To me, "superfleet" wasn't just the paint scheme. But also the four axle, built for speeding intermodal trains across the desert that the paint was attached to. So yeah, still "superfleet" to me...
