Western Railroad Discussion > Diesel Report from OERM--SP 3100 part three 1/25/20Date: 01/26/20 15:11 Diesel Report from OERM--SP 3100 part three 1/25/20 Author: TomPlatten Good news from OERM about the SP 3100 saga. 1) the tubes for the oil cooler have been successfully cleaned by our contractor in Temecula! See the first photo! Now Richard has to locate all of the necessary seals and gaskets to facilitate reinstallation back into the locomotive. We feel these events will insure that the 3100's overheating days are over! 2) Yesterday, with a sizeable crew, using Carl's slider assembly, we were able to remove the front truck to an adjacent track so the rear wheelset can be extracted from the traction motor and replaced.. Richard and John had already disconnected the electrical connections, unbolted the traction motor bellows and disconnected the hand brake chain. Carl will now have to bring in his big crane to lift the truck onto the shop tracks so the wheelset changeout can be accomplished. Thank you to all who helped with this task!

And no, it's not being held up by that small jack under the pilot only as some have questioned Mr Platten. It's simplly another point of stabilization.
