A Little Green in the Consist
Author: twjurgens

Couldn't let yesterday afternoon's great weather pass by with at least a little effort toward train watching! Saw zip on the way to Ashland from Lincoln, NE but decided to set for a few minutes to see if anything showed up.  After a bit, the scanner woke up with the Sioux City line dispatcher giving a track warrant to a southbound.  It wound up being worth the trip!  BNSF 5039, 5514, 2082, 1507, 2968, and 2804 made a colorful combination 3 miles north of Wann (10 or so miles north of Ashland).  It's been 25 years since the BN/ATSF merger and I'm wondering if those green engines will be traded or scrapped before they are repainted!

Notice all the Geeps have their stacks covered.  A couple corrections on the unit numbers:

BNSF 2082
BNSF 1507
BNSF 2968
BNSF 2804

All to Alliance, NE for Laid Up Good Order storage.

Thanks!

I saw this same train on the north fuel tracks at the west end of Lincoln's Hobson Yard yesterday morning.
