Western Railroad Discussion > U.P. bridge crane tying up for the nightDate: 02/27/20 20:01 U.P. bridge crane tying up for the night Author: JoCoLB Here is a short video of a Union Pacific Railroad bridge crane moving onto a maintenance of way siding at Osawatomie, KS, late Thursday afternoon (Feb. 27, 2020) before being tied down for the night. This crane and a second one are being used on the replacement of a bridge just southwest of Osawatomie on the Coffeyville Sub
Preceding the video are two still photos of the two cranes mentioned. The second one was found parked in the Osawatomie switch yard. .(Video and stills by Larry Byers) Edited 1 time(s). James R.(Jim) Baker Whittier, CA Date: 02/28/20 04:30 Re: U.P. bridge crane tying up for the night Author: donstrack Thanks for the photos. UP 903110 was one of the first AOL Crane (now IPS) rebuilds, completed in 1990. Research has not yet found which previous UP Ohio crane it was rebuilt from.
UP 903201 is a new number, and is a very recent IPS rebuild. It could have been rebuilt from several former UP, SP, MP, or CNW Ohio cranes. Did you happen to notice a date on the crane? Maybe zoom in on the original photo? As information, the recent UP 903200 was rebuilt by IPS from the former SPMW 8002. Here is a photo of UP 903200, from TO back in June 2019. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4806928,4807379#msg-4807379 Here is a previous TO discussion of IPS cranes, from September 2018. This discussion includes a history of IPS. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4627231,4627460#msg-4627460 I have been compiling whatever I can find about UP's fleet of locomotive cranes and wreck derricks on this web page. https://utahrails.net/up/900000-derricks.php Don Strack Date: 02/28/20 06:52 Re: U.P. bridge crane tying up for the night Author: JoCoLB |
