Clouds Can Be Your Friend
Author: TexBob

Clouds have been my nemesis for all of my railfan career, but every so often things fall into place
and suddenly they are my best friend.
I got out to railfan a bit last night. The first train to come by me at MP 20 in Stafford,TX was UP 6146 at 1945.
It's a Medina,TX to Crosby, TX loaded rock train symboled RMEMT 28.

As long as clouds don't affect the lighting of my shot, I'm glad to have 'em.

Many of my own favorite images are those "under the storm" shots. - Tony J.

Looks great.
Very much appreciate the ' Storm Light ' style of photography, for trains but also Wildlife and Landscapes. Drove through this area last year and was amazed how far away from anything the place is.

Great shot! What did you use for the lighting? It worked really well with the clouds above.... Thanks for sharing!

Very nicely captured! The normally finnicky railfan gods were smiling at you that day...

As photographers of railroads/trains we spend a lot of our time cloud-dodging... but there are times when they can add some drama or good aesthetic.
