Executive Wagon Wheel Leaders and More
Author: BNSF-6432

This morning I made it out of the house to see what was moving around the Tulsa area. It started with an eastbound freight (possibly a TULKCK) with a cluster of power. Then upon checking the south end of the Cherokee Yard there was an odd occurrence with two sets of hump power working, with three of the four units in BN executive paint. After that I went over to TSU's Midland Valley yard and met TSU 108 trekking over towards Sapulpa. With that said, here's the pictures.

1) An eastbound freight out of Tulsa prepares to take the hole at Tiger to make the first meet of the journey. A KCS GE breaks up the long consist of orange GE's and EMD's.

2) What could be a look from the late 90's or early 2000's is still doable in 2020 but only as yard power and not departing southbounds.

3) BNSF 9688 leads another executive working on the freight lead.

4) Thankfully I had arrived just in time as the pair of executives began shoving back towards the departure tracks while the hump job sat at CP4279.

5) BNSF 9688 shoves back behind the waiting 9644.

6) Hiding back on the bypass was a ballast train led by a newer SD70 and a UP GE.

7) TSU 108 comes into the old Midland Valley yard in West Tulsa. Unfortunately road traffic didn't cooperate with the shot here.

8&9) 108 follows old highway 66 through west Tulsa towards Sapulpa. Seem passing by Webster High School

SAPULVA - how about a little background on that name.
Thanks from Lost LA. (That's a real historical TV show in Los Angeles)

Sapulpa- Named after the area's first permanent settler, a full-blood Lower Creek Indian. MP4093 may better explain the story, but as I understand the SLSF originally built a yard in Sapulpa, where the line south to Texas split with the line to Oklahoma City. After a dispute with the town, they relocated to the current location of Cherokee Yard in Redfork (west Tulsa)
TSU's headquarters are located here and the line was orignally named Sapulpa and Interurban Railway serving areas around Creek county.

Sapulpa is about 10 miles southwest of Tulsa and located on Route 66.
