Western Railroad Discussion > New CP Power on Ayer Subdivision

On the Canadian Board there is a discussion about the new CP units being banned from British Columbia.I sure hope this is not true although a "reliable" source says this to be true.Here are recent shots on the Union Pacific Ayer Subdivision where CP units are more common than UP units. So here's hoping this is not true.The first two images are southbound the first at MP197 and the second by the Hermiston Airport.The third image is northbound at MP196. All from last month of 2020.Bill Webb

What is the supposed reason for such restrictions?

The discussion on the Canadian board is about them not being used in British Columbia ... not about banning them from being lead units.

Fantastic series!

The rumour is that they are banned from the mainline in BC. That would not include the Cranbrook Sub (Eastport, ID - Crowsnest, AB).

So why would they not be suited for the mainline in BC but are fine for use elsewhere?
