Aptly named, Boundary siding (MP 138.25) is 8.8 miles north of Northport, Washington (MP 129.49), which in turn is 33.5 miles north of Kettle Falls, Washington (MP 95.65), home of the Saint Paul and Pacific Northwest Railroad (SP&PNW).

Early on the afternoon of May 14, 2020 FURX 4225 was seen leading the southbound SP&PNW freight, on its return trip from Waneta, BC, Canada to Kettle Falls, Washington.

The 4225 is seen switching at Boundary siding, a convenient location to properly group cars (east and west) for their eventual travel on the BNSF from Spokane.

From here it will be a scenic, relaxed chase to our next point of interest, Northpoint, Washington

Mile Post locations as per BN, Inc. Timetable 1 (06/12/1975) when this trackage was the BN's 6th Subdivision of the Spokane Division

Those red FURX leasers always appear to be well-maintaned. Are they?

They sure look nice and clean in these images, and are a matched set too!

Yes, they are. All four of the red units were completely rebuilt before Progressive Rail leased them. They have various ills from time to time, as any roughly fifty year old locomotives will have, but for the most part run very well. The STPP also has two black ex-NS GP38-2s leased from LTEX. You haven't seen them in photos very much for a reason. They have been absolute roundhouse queens almost upon arrival. One just came back from major engine work, and may be back in service soon, while the other is still parked with various ailments.
