Western Railroad Discussion > Special Units Congregating Around St. LouisDate: 06/24/20 18:17 Special Units Congregating Around St. Louis Author: sugarcreek56 There were three special units congregating in and around the St. Louis area on Tuesday, June 23. KCS 4006 had come from Kansas City as the trailing unit on MKCVN on Monday, and would be the lead unit on MVNKC on Tuesday morning. Due to scheduled track work on the diamonds at Valley Junction, MVNKC got a call early to get out of the yard before maintenance work began. KCS 4859, the "Safety Starts Here" unit, had brought GS3GRK-20, and empty grain train bound for Sterling, IL, into St. Louis Monday evening. Atlanta to Kansas City NS train 224 was led by NS 8025, the Monongahela Unit, across Illinois to Luther Yard in St. Louis.
1. KCS 4006 leads MVNKC across 8th Street in East St. Louis, IL. 2. MVNKC passes Q Tower and is about to duck under Packer Avenue in East St. Louis, IL. 3. MVNKC passes WR Tower in Granite City, IL before passing under Rock Road Bridge. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/25/20 10:26 by sugarcreek56. St. Louis. The overhead line is the MacArthur Bridge approach from the bridge to Q Tower.
5. KCS 4859 waits at UP 12th Street Yard in St. Louis. 6. NS 8025 brings train 224 past the east end of the siding at New Baden, IL. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/25/20 10:25 by sugarcreek56.
