DSRC derails five loaded grain cars, no injuries, blocks road
Author: dsrc512

The derailment occurred on the evening of June 27, 2020.  For those with access to Facebook, the Brule County Sheriff's office posted five photos at   www.facebook.com/brulecountysheriff/
The location is about midway in the twelve miles  between Kimball and Pukwana, SD known as Six Mile Road.  I-90 closely parallels the south side of the railroad where the derailment happened.  As of Monday, Dakota Southern Railway Co. had unblocked the gravel road.  The train was a BNSF shuttle.  Derailed cars were the 34th thru the 38th from the trailing end of the train.

State must have been lax in providing money to upgrade the track.

Appears to be welded rail under the derailed cars. Hope the Dakota Southern is back in business soon to handle the grain trains.
