A Rock Island Finale
Author: Ohiorailfan

On the 21st we made our way back home, but not without seeing some trains. The plan was to get the IAIS BICB with the 513 and 516 heritage units if they were still paired. They ended up taking off 516 in South Amana, but I was still pleased to see 513 leading as I have never chased it before. We found the train about 10 miles east of Atlantic, Iowa as the sun was trying make its way up in the dark sky. Enjoy!

Nice shots in interesting early light . Appreciate seeing the heritage Rock Island paint scheme on the lead unit.  Thanks for sharing.

Nice sequence. Quite a change over the power variety over the IAIS's history.

I think this is the ex-RI line, and if so, it sure is pretty.  I like it more than some of the other east-west mailines.  Single-track adds to ambiance.  Just looks all-Amercan.

What highway is that next to the tracks in the 1st photo?

Know right where you took the first photo as I have photos from there in the past. Thats old Hwy 6 for those not familiar with Iowa
