Rolling Thru The Weekend Parade On The BNSF--Mega Trains

It was a warm sunny day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub with a high-low of 88-60. Much better than the 100+ temps. Traffic is at 17 trains since midnight, had 34 trains yesterday. Here are some of the weekend trains from Saturday and Sunday.

8/1/2020

1. WB 401pm 3x3x2 Mega grain train with BNSF 9153-5811-8428 on the point with DPU's and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger.
2. Middle DPU's BNSF 7152-8318-7474 on same train.
3. End DPU's BNSF 9369-7796 on same train.

4. EB 436pm empty coal train with BNSF 5823-6425 on the pull with DPU.
5. WB 456pm oil train with BNSF 8518-8025 on the point with DPU.
6. EB 513pm grain train with BNSF 3915-7835 on the pull with DPU.

7. BNSF 478793 NP Heritage Hopper rolling in same train.
8. BNSF 486059 SAnta Fe Heritage hopper rolling in same train.
9. WB 720pm coal train with BNSF 6276-9332 on the point with DPU's.

10. DPU's BNSF 8480-8787 on same coal train.

11. EB 927am auto train with BNSF 4301 and NS 9363 on the pull with DPU and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger.
12. DPU NS 4190 on same train.

13. WB 953m coal train with BNSF 6313-6065 on the point with DPU.
14. KCS 4121 in the DPU mix with BNSF 6250 on same train.
15. WB 1028am 1x1x0 empty well train with BNSF 5999 on the pull with DPU.

19. EB 1153am 3x2x0 Mega manifest train with BNSF 9053-6756-6122 on the pull with DPU's.
20. Middle DPU's BNSF 7796-9369 on same train.
21. The End of same train fading away.

22. WB 1246pm oil train with BNSF 6153-3913 on the point with DPU.
23. ​WB 132pm manifest itrain with BNSF 7289-8752 on the pull with DPU and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger.
24. DPU BNSF 3899 on same train.

That stub track with concrete ties and heavy ballast down to the concrete dock is probably one of the best maintained loading tracks in the country.

I would think that these two baretable trains are for the merchandise coming to the US from overseas to LA forcing the imbalance of well cars to carry product east out of LA..

Nice catch on a MEGA WESTBOUND loaded grainer..   How would you like to run a train around 32,000 TONS on the Lakeside Sub, Larry??

Not sure 66, but the train was very LONG, well over 200 cars.

C'mon Larry, you could do it without the computer running it..   I know you could do it..

66, BNSF runs unit grain trains between 107 to 116/117, so with that in mind, it would be 210+ loads, 0 empties, 30K+ tons, and about 13K feet long.   Those are all estimates, but that should give you what you are wanting..
