Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF 25th Anniversary LocomotiveDate: 08/13/20 15:09 BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: djm448 #5828 ... 1st of 10 locomotives.
From the "Friends of BNSF" Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/bnsf.friends/permalink/537727206972062/ "Keep an eye out, and you might spot something different leading a BNSF Railway train! This is the first of 10 locomotives that will help celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the merger that formed BNSF Railway by sporting logos of our historic predecessor lines. It’s going operational tomorrow and another nine will follow over the next few weeks.BNSF is the product of more than 400 railroad lines merging or being acquired since 1849. The merger of ATSF and BN in 1995 created the world-class railroad that brings you the products you need every day.Let us know if you spot one of these special locomotives! We'd love to see pictures." *Edited to add photos Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/13/20 15:11 by djm448. Something to get excited about out here on the western transcon instead of the occasional EMD leader or foreign power.

If 9 more locomotives, perhaps some hope that they will each recognize a railroad, I count 8 logos on the this unit .

Date: 08/13/20 16:41 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: howeld So much potential missed.
We already have the heritage hoppers. Minus the one they wrecked - C&S? Date: 08/13/20 16:41 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: Milwaukee Interesting to have Colorado & Southern but not Fort Worth & Denver.
Date: 08/13/20 16:45 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: TomPlatten Skyview and Masterplots you are both right. But, consider this, the BNSF was not required to do anything! IMHO this commemoration was directed to railfans who might appreciate the effort!
Date: 08/13/20 17:11 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: Valleyman Just think if the BNSF would have done full blown paint jobs for each merged railroad, instead of some inexpensive decals on a unit needing to be repainted anyway! People would then complain about the money spent with so many employees furloughed. Thankfully the BNSF needs to answer to know one on this site.
Valleyman Date: 08/13/20 17:20 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: swingnose Well employees have a right to be upset I expected more but hopefully the other 9 are real heritage paint jobs

Date: 08/13/20 17:47 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: jst3751 So let me see if I get this straight:
If BNSF has no special painted locomotives, there will be those on TO that will b***h moan and complain about it. If BNSF has some locomotives with special decals on them, there will be those on TO that will b***h moan and complain about it. If BNSF has some locomotives painted special, there will be those on TO that will b***h moan and complain about it. Does that pretty much sum it up? THANK YOU BNSF! Date: 08/13/20 17:54 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: ATSF90East To those of you disappointed by the way BNSF painted their locomotive, It costs them 30 grand or so for them to prep and paint. If you have that kind of cash burnng a hole in your pocket make them a proposal!
Date: 08/13/20 18:00 Re: BNSF 25th Anniversary Locomotive Author: arizonaBNSF Of course there are people on here complaning. It's the first time BNSF has done any special paint schemes and everybody finds a problem with them.
I for one am looking forward to seeing that unit in service and seeing what else BNSF has up their sleeve. Bring it on! |
