Shack lives

Say this sitting at the Ethenol plant south of Bridgeport NE.  Shack must now have a big paint brush.

Didn't get photos, but there are 6 former BNSF units now marked for Progress rail at their facility just north of Sidney.  2 look to be SD70's, on in warbonet and the other one of the current orange paint.  At least 3 1300 series have been marked for Progress and are sitting there also.

In the movie Emperor of the North, "Shack" (Ernest Borgnine) was the meanest conductor on the railroad and "A No.1" (Lee Marvin) was a hobo and his arch nemesis.

The graffiti "artist" at least had viewed one of the great railroad movies of all time--or so it seems.

In the old days ,  "Shack" was a slang term for a brakeman .  Because of Ernest Borgnine's character's vicious pride in his status as a Conductor , he was taunted by the hoboes who called him by the lowly term for a brakeman.

It was "A No. 1" who marked the inscription on the water tank , giving "Shack" notice that he would be riding his train.
