Western Railroad Discussion > Evening KP CoalDate: 09/24/20 20:02 Evening KP Coal Author: mg8711 This evening was a first in over 15 months for me personally, a chase of a loaded coal train on the KP. It wasn't the first such train in that long, just my first time seeing one since June 2019. It's hard to say just how long this traffic out of Colorado will last, it seems to come and go in spurts, but with a bit of luck, I was able to act on whatever is left of it for a little bit this evening.
1) With the sun low in the sky, UP 5870 leads its mix of bethgons and hoppers across the Kansas River Valley east of Wamego, KS. 2) East of Belvue, UP 5870 is slowing perhaps for a slow order as the sun tucks in behind smoke and clouds. Images taken September 24th, 2020 Thanks for looking! mg8711 Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/24/20 20:06 by mg8711. Date: 09/24/20 20:12 Re: Evening KP Coal Author: santafe199 Nice!! :^)

Sure wish easy way to learn of these movements. Love shooting the KP but never can determine when trains run, and too few to just sit by tracks and hope! Date: 09/26/20 10:03 Re: Evening KP Coal Author: switchlock Beauty!

I really don’t have a way to tell how many trains run on the KP, it’s not very many, almost all locals or the SITP/TPSI manifests on the east end, plus random grain, coal, and wind turbine parts trains.
