a 3x1x1 manifest with a "rock" surprise........
Author: goneon66

i saw this e/b 3x1x1 beast crawling up through kingman, az on the bnsf's seligman sub.

i ran ahead of it and caught it e/b through c.p. walapai on main #2 as a dpu'd w/b stack train started pulling on main #1.

i was pleasantly surprise to see 2 ex-rock island grain hoppers in this train..........

Those stack trains have a lot of "get-up-and-go", don't they. Nice video.

It helps when you're trying to get up and go downhill.

Didn't really look like a very long train? Must have been mostly loads, an amazing amount of boxcars, which is good to see, except, of course grafetti on every one. Sad, but nice video.

Nice video, I remember seeing a ton of those hoppers in Mojave back in the 80s-91, also that's a long manifest, bu try 217 cars which I saw almost all the time when I was in the Navy in Mayport and railfanning Jacksonville on a daily manifest CSX sent out of Waycross with a good variety of power on it, and they were mostly old GE Uboats

Thanks for sharing again. I know that spot as you were standing. As you were there, so is it very hot and sunny with hazy?

hello barry.

that spot is good in the mornings as the sun is behind you.

it was a few weeks ago in the high 90's and the haze was from those california fires.  today it was 54F in the morning and will be 90F for the high.

be safe down there..............
