On this date in 2017, UP 1943 was unveiled in San Antonio, Texas. Currently the unit is on the point of train MASHN, headed to Herington, Kansas but sadly all indications are it will be passing through Eastern Kansas under the cover of darkness, a little over a month ago however, it passed through the area two days in a row, in sunshine.

1) With train MNPKS-11 in tow, UP 1943 crawls up the grade at Aikins, Kansas.
2-3) Down the line at Menoken, the 1943 pulls up to a stop, awaiting room to make a rear end set out.

4) Approaching Lawrence now, UP 1943 has just rounded the curve at Midland, KS. The crew will go dead at Bonner Springs, on the outskirts of Kansas City.
5-6) The next day was also hot and sunny, UP 1943 is at Ranch Road between Emmett and Aikins with the MKSNP-13 in tow. They have a set out on a grade just ahead, and wont move again until after dark.
