AZ Truxton flyover open?
Author: Lackawanna484

I noticed several BNSF trains on the not usual tracks in Flagstaff last night.

Downhill eastbound on the closed to platform track, uphill westbound on the brewery track.

Was this a one off, or is this the new procedure?

The flyover opened on Sunday and left hand running to past Belen is now normal. Amtrak still
crosses over to service Flagstaff and Winslow.

Anyone have the exact length of the new siding between West Truxton (MP 477.8) and East Truxton (MP 475.4)?  Subtracting the approximate length of the turnouts, I would guess the siding is approximately 11,600 foot or so, but that is just a wild guess.

When I was out there, I talked with one of the Signal Technicians.  Was advised it is a 12,000 ft siding.  Hope this helps.

That flyover's on my bucket list, I know there's some neat spots to shoot trains over there!
