Western Railroad Discussion > Yesterday was Monday so more NWP

The NWP usually operates east from Ignacio to Lombard on Monday morning, so that is often how I begin the week.  It is really nice to have this operation so close.  I was out of the house at 7:30, chased as far as Fairville, and home in time to fix my wife breakfast.  Here are three pix from yesterday.

Great Pix.    Looks like freight service demand on the NWP is decent.  Good to see.  Hopefully the "Smart" people wont screw it up.

Nice pics, looks like the main grandstand for Sonoma Raceway makes a good backdrop.  Would be neat to get a picture during a race weekend with all the banners and people, but then again - I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the track (if I wasn't attending), what with all the traffic on Hwys 37 and 121 on Nascar weekend.  I did get a picture of an NWP train passing by one year from the Indy Car race on a Sunday.

Actually not terribly bad as long you travel through there at offpeak times on the race day. Compared to the 37 traffic that builds up on a weekday afternoon, not terribly bad at all. This is based on only on three chases of the NASCAR express. Ironically the worst traffic was experienced, I feel, by the folks enjoying the rare mileage via the train. It was 10mph over the CFNR and they had to wait at the Suisun wye for maybe an hour to get on the Cal P.
