Western Railroad Discussion > UP locomotive storage questionDate: 11/26/20 05:34 UP locomotive storage question Author: mully Just saw a drone video from 3 years ago showing 4.3 miles of locomotives in storage in Arizona off of I 10
Anyone know if they are still there? Gary Posted from iPhone Date: 11/26/20 05:44 Re: UP locomotive storage question Author: zr1rob No long gone. They were stored on a stub of the old mainline east of Tucson that was bypassed over 10 years ago.

Gary Posted from iPhone Date: 11/26/20 07:22 Re: UP locomotive storage question Author: SouthWestRailCams I remember getting some videos on the Engine Moves when that was taking place. Lots of SD-60Ms and Dash 8s were very common in the moves we caught.

Many Dash-8s have been scrapped. SD60Ms and Dash-9s stored. I guess if there were some standard cab SD60s in that line, they might be in local service somewhere, but I mostly remember the EMDs in the line being 60Ms from the videos I saw. Gary Posted from iPhone Date: 11/26/20 11:18 Re: UP locomotive storage question Author: ble692 Units stored at Pantano circa 2015-2016 were SD60M, C40-8, C40-8W, C41-8W, and C44-9W. At the max, 306 units were stored there. From November 2017 to April 2018 all the units were removed in small groups. The SD60M and C44-9W were mostly returned to service, although they are all stored again now. The C40-8, C40-8W, and C41-8W were mostly sold to GE or for scrap, with a handful kept by the UP. Nothing is stored at Pantano currently.
