SP Construction Services
Author: ssw

Good morning, posing this question from a good friend of mine who is trying to find some info out on SPCX cabooses.
"Is anybody out there familiar with a small fleet (maybe a dozen or so) of SPCX cabooses rebuilt from SP cabooses for use in construction of fiber optic infrastructure on SP rights of way? I think the SPC stood for Southern Pacific Communications, apparently a small SP owned company.I’m trying to research which SP cars were used. There were at least 11 SPCX cars, numbered 50 through 60, maybe more."

I'll pass on any answers to him.

Thanks,
Bradley Linda

Here is a link to utahrails.net which covers the history of SPCX.

Hope this helps in some way.

I have a few good shots of one I took years ago in Earlimart. Don't recall the number and I'm traveling right now so I'm separated from my slide collection. But I'll see if I can find it when I'm reunited with my slides in a few weeks.

But SPRINT was merged into T-Mobile in April of this year.

To add, since the merger, Cell Service for my area dropped where LTE speeds are back to 3G speeds and good luck ever getting a incoming call..    I miss the good ol SP days!  ;-)
