IAIS and CP from the Quads
Author: CNW8531

Yesterday was probably our only sunny day we'll see this month (in eastern Iowa anyhow) so I took advantage of it the best I could.  Got out of the chemo clinic around 11:00am and decided to see what was running in the Quads before heading on home.  Heard the IAIS westbound getting a warrant to head west so I just had time to get across the river and grab a few shots.  Nothing great here but it was sunny out remember, and it did have more than the usual two unit consist.

1   Going by Willie-Whites in East Moline.

2   At Rock Island yard with the former Rock Island depot in the background on the left.

3   About to cross the Government Bridge into Iowa.

It was all locals running on the CP but what the heck, red paint looks good in the sun and snow.

1   The B73 local at Rock Island ready to head across town and up the Nitrin line.

2   A former Milwaukee Road GP40 leading here.  I'll take that and like it!

3   Another local in downtown Davenport heading back to Nahant.  Not sure if I like them running butt forward or not, but it is different.  I guess you take what you get.  That's all for today as I was ready for home and a meal by this point.

Me too!
Nice series. I always try to make some time to cruise through the QC while heading to/from Iowa City.

the 2274 came off the Eldridge Line Randy. Erik posted some shots on FB on that train.

Good stuff as usual. Glad you are getting out.

Good to see former MILW 2066 looking so good even if she is now running as the CP 4007.   The unit originally ran cross country for the MILW when she was new but no doubt spent a lot of time in Iowa after the SD40-2's arrived.   She ended her MILW career in the Hiawatha scheme.

Thanks for sharing the photos with us here.

How mechanically reliable are these units?
