I have no desire to live in the "wildland-urban interface," but that book looks really interesting.

Twenty-five-ish years ago, a BN double grain train (108 cars was a double back then) got away coming down from Summit (MT), putting 107 cars over the side around Windy Point. BN cleaned up the wreck, and figuring that since the grain was natural, they could just leave it. Well, after a while, with some seasonal changes, the pile of grain turned into (effectively) beer. It became a local hangout for the Griz, many of which got into the habit of imbibing until they became roaring drunk. This kind of upset the forest service and national park folks, who then required BN to go back and clean it all up - about 10,700 tons of moldy, fermented grain.

I live on the east end of Cheyenne about 1/4 mile north of the tripl;e track mainline and have had deer grazing in my front yard, be it rarely.
Right now we have the invasion of the rabbits. Foxes should not be too far behind and hawks.

The San Luis and Rio Grande dumped several cars of barley on the east side of Le Vata pass.  After a while  it was a regular eating (and drinking) place for the bears.  I saw 6 there one time passing the spot with 2 passed out bears and one so drunk he was having trouble walking. Crews told me they were there every day .
