Western Railroad Discussion > New Year's Eve Freight Cars, Last SectionDate: 01/19/21 16:10 New Year's Eve Freight Cars, Last Section Author: kevink Third and last section! The final batch of freight car photos from New Year's Eve.
First section is here: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,5175854 Second section is here: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,5176989 Thread with the trains is here: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,5170926 The last train of the day and for 2020 was CN's M337 a regular afternoon westbound through Chicago's western suburbs on CN's Freeport Sub (former Illinois Central). Today's train had the usual mix of freight cars including: 1. COER 173323, a Gunderson boxcar 2. IC 799512, a 5150 CF NSC covered hopper 3. NOKL 853163 a 5300 CF NSC covered hopper. I beleive there is some arrangement between CN and NOKL that explains the NOKL reporting marks. Date: 01/19/21 16:11 Re: New Year's Eve Freight Cars, Last Section Author: kevink 4. CN 109963 with a somewhat decent Canada paint scheme
5. LSPX 655010. a Trinity-built covered hopper 6. UCRY 15870, another Gunderson boxcar Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/19/21 16:13 by kevink. Date: 01/19/21 16:11 Re: New Year's Eve Freight Cars, Last Section Author: kevink 7. LRS 16191
8. LRS 100236, fairly new Gunderson boxcar 9. LRS 100345, another fairly new Gunderson boxcar Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/19/21 16:14 by kevink. Those new blue boxes seem to be pretty common and I've also noticed high sided scrap gons, some new, are starting to become regular in the consist. This is a terrible photo, but the other day, there was a cut of 20-30 EQUX plastic pellet hoppers that made me wonder. Perhaps they are going into or out of storage. Seeing 30-50 DDG hoppers on M337 is normal, but never a big cut of plastic pellet hoppers.

You can see their ends are different from that oxide red COER Gunderson built boxcar, also the attachment of the side ladders is different between the COER and LRS cars.

After reviewing the Trinity site, I think you're right. See: https://www.trinityrail.com/products/box-cars/ |
