Business as usual at Ludlow
Author: Midnight_Goat

In November 2020 I spent a few days out on the Needles Subdivision with my Dad and while I'm sure the Needles Sub has its 'slow' days it was a very busy stretch of railroad on November 25th. Included is a four image series taken within 20 minutes with the first westbound having a Norfolk Southern leader, which was a nice surprise. There is a new pole line that follows the south side of the tracks since my last visit to Ludlow several years ago but with enough elevation it is not an issue.

1) NS 9732 and its westbound stack train sailing through Ludlow.

2) Looking west towards Lavic the NS 9732 continues west as BNSF 7546 and BNSF 3880 progress east.

3) BNSF 7504 west is coming off Ash Hill as BNSF 7546 rolls into town in the foreground

Last one...

4) Lastly as BNSF 7546 east climbs Ash Hill in the distance BNSF 7504 slips through Ludlow with a manifest.

Thanks for looking,
Ryan

Great shots.  Interesting to think that Ludlow used to be a 3 railroad town:
ATSF
Tonopah and Tidewater (1906-1940)
Ludlow Southern (1903-1931)

Not to mention that for many years it was the site of the T&T main shops.

Great stuff, Ryan! Those campers at Ludlow are there every November. I appreciate their horn they brought and their "thank you railroaders" sign.
