Western Railroad Discussion > Snow Going, Going, Almost Gone On The BNSF--BCRail and OthersDate: 02/22/21 15:19 Snow Going, Going, Almost Gone On The BNSF--BCRail and Others Author: Ritzville It was a cool cloudy drippy windy(20-30mph) day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub. The high-low was 47-33 with .01 of drips. The 10 plus inches of snow has melted off rapidly with the 40+ degree last couple of days. As of today snow is almost gone leaving swampy conditions. Traffic is at 21 trains since midnight with more on the way. Here is a look back at the last few days.
2/19/2021 1. WB 309pm oil train with BNSF 6839-8204 on the point with DPU's. 2. WB 355pm manifest train with BNSF 5261-6655 on the pull with DPU. 3. WB 416pm grain train with BNSF 5038-6420 on the point with DPU and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger. 2/20/2021 5. WB 957am manifest train with BNSF 6858-"B" unit 343, BCRAIL 4644 and Cowl CN 2??? on the pull with no DPU and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger. 6. 23. WB 1225pm manifest train with BNSF 9119-4242 on the point with no DPU. Snow almost gone as of this afternoon, it melted quite fast for 10 inches of snow. That's it for today. The weather looks better now. I like the BNSF ES44. We do not gave this model here for while, but Wabtech announced that it will produce some to Rumo railroad this year.

Too bad once this train, SPOPAS, hit Providence HIll, all three of those units died. The crews had several issues getting them to run and the BCOL unit was bleeding air. Once on top of the hill the BNSF GE was able to lead the train into Pasco as the only unit online with the aid of Dispatch giving them some priority to get them off the track as they caused enough of a traffic jam already. That combo didnt spend long in Pasco and had disappeared prior to the morning light when I went looking for them.
