Western Railroad Discussion > Late Winter in the Upper MidwestDate: 03/04/21 12:30 Late Winter in the Upper Midwest Author: rrartist Winter is fast becoming a fleeting memory these days with warm temps and sunny skies, I'm kind of wondering when the other shoe will drop...... Anyhow this morning I caught the likes of CP 813, UP 2639 just south of La Crescent MN and CP 198, CP 8108 climbing the hill near West Salem WI and last Amtrak #8 with the 151-130 showing up on time into La Crosse WI.

In my area, while the snow is vanishing, there is virtually no running water, it's all going into the ground. The snow should be mostly gone when the daytime temps get over 50 this weekend. The below freezing temperatures at night are helping this a greaat deal. Nice shots, Jim, thanks for posting.
