Spring is here in the SF Bay Area!
Author: AlcoRSD15

Spring is here in the San Francisco Bay Area!  (specifically the East Bay).  I took all of these photos last week.  Photo 1: ANPMI at Benicia CA   Photo 2: #6 at Martinez Photo 3: Eastbound BNSF, Christie CA.

Great variety of locations. Was that all in one day?

Shot these lovely places many times and miss them terribly, especially Pinole with The Bay and Mt. Tam. Here in LA, Spring and its first blossoms came in late January-early February. Yesterday was our first hint of Summer.

The Amtrak photo with those cherry blossoms and the picture with UP SD59X 9914 are my favorites. All are nice. Spring has sprung in the East Bay!

Amtrak and the ANPMI at Benicia were taken March 23; all others March 26.
BTW, not many freight trains anymore in the East Bay. The MRVOA (Roseville-Oakland) is the only regular daytime freight train on the UP Cal-P line through Martinez, lately it has been arriving Martinez around 10:00 am to 12 noon. It sets out cars at Ozol Yard in Martinez, then departs about 10:45-12:45.  ANPMI is a morning westbound train, sometimes comes before dawn, other times between sunrise and 9 am. Usually sets out auto racks at Bahia/Marsh (Benicia).
BNSF has been running trains usually between 9 am and 2 pm through Franklin Canyon.  Often runs a RICBAR east out of Richmond in the morning. Traffic tends to dry up between 2 pm and 6 pm, although there's no regular pattern.

Excellent series of photos. Spring has arrived, and severe drought-required water rationing is just around the corner!

Really like the last shots down at the water. Great example of railroad activity during some of the best weeks of California weather.

Nice images. Here in upstate NY there are still a few small piles of crusty snow in the woods and north facing slopes. Nice to see that flowers will be coming soon.
